    Mid-Year Retreat

    1:00 - 6:00 PMZoom

The 2020 Fellows will go "on the road" virtually this year, learning from community partners around our state and even nation, particularly focusing on the needs and assets of our rural communities. We're excited to be joining with the New Hampshire/Vermont chapter of ASF for part of the time, to learn together from two distinguished speakers, Ms. Catherine Coleman Flowers (Equal Justice Initiative) and Ms. Wynona Ward (Have Justice Will Travel). Both Ms. Flowers and Ms. Ward have made large impacts addressing environmental health and domestic violence, respectively, in rural areas of their states. Afterwards, Alabama Fellows will continue their learning about mental healthcare access and self-care strategies (Jennifer Payne Guffin, FFL 2017-18), how medical legal partnerships are one strategy to effect change (Lita Waggoner, 2020-21 Fellow), as well as an overview of provider shortages and supports for pursuing careers in shortage areas.
