Name: Dannelle Paz
Fellowship Year: 2023-2024
Q: What are you currently doing professionally or academically, and how do you feel your Schweitzer Fellowship experience has helped you in your current position?
A: I am currently working as a CRNA as I was prior to the fellowship. I have stretched outside my comfort zone by serving in my state association and also in the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. I continue to volunteer with the Wellhouse and Trafficking Hope through my church as well.
Q: What do you remember most about your Schweitzer Fellowship experience, or what was the most surprising or unexpected gain?
A: The most valuable was meeting others from various disciplines and gaining more confidence to serve in other areas to make a difference.
Q: Tell us more about your ASF project and how you feel it helped shape your career path or academic focus.
A: I created training for nurses to be aware of child sex trafficking. I shared this with the hospital in which I worked but also presented content at the state convention. It is necessary to continue to educate nurses and the public about this pandemic. I made additional contacts that will help spread awareness and carry on the education.
Q: How has the Fellowship influenced how you approach leadership, service, or community engagement?
A: It has instilled more drive to volunteer and share my service with other organizations as well.
Q: What advice would you give to current or future Schweitzer Fellows?
A: Continue to serve in organizations that you are involved in and share your passions with others.
