Leanne and Kavita addressed the need for breast health education and self-examinations in the community by training to become breast self-exam educators. They took a specific interest in serving the LGBTQIA+ community as this population is frequently overlooked in breast health programs and education materials. Their project entailed authoring inclusive breast cancer materials, educating patients on how frequently they should be screened for breast cancer, and teaching participants how to conduct a breast self-exam. Participants learned how to utilize the Know Your Lemons application, which includes resources including reminders for when they are due for their next screening and videos on conducting breast self-examinations at home.
