Deeksha and Srushti are working to support pregnant and postpartum women at the Lovelady Center, a residential recovery program for women impacted by incarceration and substance use disorder. Their project addresses the heightened risks this population faces through three components. A monthly postpartum support group combining mindfulness techniques and guided discussions to create a safe space for emotional processing and peer connection. A six-week workshop series, offered throughout the year, bringing in guest speakers and interactive sessions on prenatal health topics shaped by residents’ expressed needs. A curated directory of local and state-level resources connecting participants to services they can use during and after their time at the Center. Together, these components offer the community and tools needed to support maternal and infant wellbeing.
